  • What is the LeanShot?
The Reliable LeanShot is a drug treatment recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for chronic weight management and is administered via subcutaneous injection which requires a physician/np consultation. It is composed of the drug semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist which mimics the hormone known as glucagon-like peptide (GLP-1), and affects the areas of the brain that help regulate food intake and appetite. The LeanShot also contains Vitamin B-12 . Our Semaglutide is combined with B12 for energy, sleep cycle regulation and a better patient experience.
  • How does the LeanShot help to lose weight?
The LeanShot helps boost the levels of GLP-1 in the body which is a key regulator of weight and blood sugar. It also helps to suppress the appetite through the brain, and it slows the rate at which the stomach empties to prolong the sensation of “fullness”. The patient consumes less food because their brain is no longer continually telling them they are hungry, and their body metabolizes fat more efficiently. Combining the LeanShot injection with a healthy diet and exercise program promotes weight loss more effectively than just diet and exercise alone. It is important to understand that in order to accomplish your weight loss goal you should incorporate all three phases.
  • You Are Not A Candidate for The LeanShot if:
You have a BMI index less than 27. (You can download one of many BMI apps on your phone to quickly determine your BMI) You are currently using a different GLP-1 medication, you cannot combine it with the shot; You have either a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer, you should not use the LeanShot; If you have a rare genetic syndrome known as multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN2).
  • What are the most common side effects?
Nausea is the most common side effect of the LeanShot. Diarrhea or constipation have also been experienced. The very low starting dose is intentional so that your body can adjust to the medication. Most symptoms improve with time for most patients
  • Is The LeanShot The Same Medication As Ozempic?
Yes, but the dosage is different. The LeanShot and Ozempic are both semaglutide medications. However, Ozempic is FDA-approved for diabetes at a maximum strength of 1.0 mg per week, while the LeanShot is FDA-approved for the treatment of overweight individuals and obesity at a maximum strength of 2.4 mg per week. The higher strength is associated with greater weight loss.
  • How Often Do I Take the Medication?
Once per week. Choose a day that is convenient for you and set a reminder so that you don’t forget!
  • How Is the LeanShot Dose Adjusted Over Time?
The starting dose is 0.25 mg. You will use this for 1 month (4 weekly injections). Assuming you are tolerating it well, the dose will increase to 0.5 mg the following month. Your provider will continue to increase the strength every month depending on how you are responding to it, and whether you have any side effects. The available strengths are 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, 1.0 mg, 1.7 mg, and 2.4 mg. Therefore, you will reach the highest dose after 5 months.
  • How Long Can I Stay On The Medication?
The LeanShot is considered a long-term medication. If you are tolerating it well, and it is helping you to lose weight, it is recommended to continue the medication.
  • I Have a Thyroid Disorder, Can I Use LeanShot?
The LeanShot is not to be used by patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer, which is a rare type of thyroid cancer. However, it is safe to use if you have a history of hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, or currently take thyroid medication.
  • What Is Included in The LeanShot Drug Therapy Program?
Your LeanShot program begins with a consultation with our Medical provider, who will review your health history, and weight loss goals, and ensure that you are a good candidate for the medication. You will continue to meet with one of our trained providers on a monthly basis, as your medication is adjusted, and your weight loss is monitored.
  • How much weight can you lose with the LeanShot?
A robust series of placebo-controlled clinical trials were conducted over a 68-week period that included thousands of participants of varying ages which led to FDA approval. In one of the most successful trials, the average weight among the participants was 231 pounds with an average BMI of 38. Participants that received the LeanShot lost an average of 15% of their initial body weight, a loss of about 34 pounds during the trial. The participants that received the placebo lost only 2.4% of their initial body weight.
  • How is the Leanshot Administered?
The Reliable LeanShot comes in a vial along with 4 syringes and each syringe contains 1 dose. To administer the dose and use the syringe, simply remove the cap, draw up the prescribed dosage to 25 units for 25ml. Tap the syringe to remove any air bubbles and then press the syringe needle against the skin, insert it below skin level, and inject the medication. It will be delivered subcutaneously. Replace the cap on the syringe and dispose of it appropriately. Most patients inject the medication into their belly or thigh.
